Ambassadors of Christ

Text: “So, from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.” 2 Corinthians 5:16

This is one of my favorite chapters in the New Testament in 2 Corinthians 5. This whole chapter is packed full of revelation. This scripture reminds us how we should think of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

These last 4 years and especially these last few months there has been so much division in the church due to politics. But I tell you that is not of God. It is not God’s will that we should ever regard one another by political party. No, we are to only regard one another as our brothers and sisters in Jesus.

In the Book of Philemon, Paul gives a great example of this when he asks Philemon a wealthy man who had a slave named Onesimus who stole from him and ran away to Rome. In Rome Onesimus encountered Paul and was led to salvation through Jesus. In this letter Paul is asking Philemon to forgive Onesimus and Paul tells Philemon that he is not to regard Onesimus as a slave any longer because he is now a brother in Christ. This is such a beautiful picture of how we are to be with one another.

Friends we cannot separate the Body of Christ by political divisions. This is a spirit of politics and is not of God. We must always regard one another as children of God. We are to treat one another as brothers and sisters and no longer from a worldly point of view.

You may not agree with everything you fellow brothers and sisters in Christ agree with, but that does not matter. We should all have a common goal and that is to be what the Apostle Paul calls “Ambassadors of Christ”.

May the God of peace guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Nancy
