Is God hearing my prayers?

Text: “Before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear.”

Isaiah 65:24

The scripture above gives us the assurance that before we pray God has already heard and answered our prayer. However, that does not mean we do not need to pray. It means that when we pray God has already answered our prayer.

We can be confident God hears our prayers and always answers. However, sometimes the answer is not what we want to hear. Sometimes the answer is that we must wait. Sometimes the answer is NO. But God always answers our prayers.

It is difficult sometimes to understand why some things happen the way they do. It can be confusing and often disheartening. But we must keep in mind that God’s plans are always perfect.

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21

God has a perspective that is based on eternity. While our perspective is based on right now. One day when we get to Heaven, we will have an eternal perspective and understanding for everything. God sees the big picture while we see only what is right in front of us.

I often use the analogy that God is like a teacher with the answers to the test. If the teacher is giving you the answers then why would you ever want to try to take a test on your own? The same is true with us in life. God has the answers to life’s tests. When our prayers do not align with God’s perfect will, then the answers we get are contrary to our flesh. But we can trust that it is what is best for us.

May the God of peace guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Nancy
