Spiritual Seasons of Life –Happy Season
Week of June 30, 2020
Text: 2 Chronicles 9:7
“Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!
Again, this week we continue with our series on the Spiritual Seasons of life. This week we have a more cheerful topic….happiness.
In the Old Testament, the word ʾashrê means “well-being,” “flourishing,” and “happiness.” This word is most often translated into our English word of “blessed.”
As Christians, our happiness should not be dependent on outward and worldly situations and circumstances, but instead on the inward assurance of our blessed position with our Father.
True happiness can never be obtained by pursuing the desires of this world, but only through a relationship with Jesus.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33
Happiness will never be found in the external it is a by-product of seeking and putting God first.
We can see here in the spiritual season of happiness, that all the other spiritual seasons are preparation for this season which is the reward and blessing of your position and relationship with our Creator.
The world never comprehends or can understand the things of God. How can someone who is sick, or unable to do the things they enjoy doing able to be happy and joyful? It is only because our happiness is the fruit of the time, we spent walking with God through all the other seasons of life. It is in the difficult seasons of life that we develop perseverance, faith, and hope. It is these fruits that are the seeds for happiness and the blessed life.
Aren’t you glad today that your happiness is not dependent on your current situation? God has given us everything we need to experience the blessings of God right here today, regardless of our physical situations, while we wait for our eternal blessings and reward in eternity.
May the God of peace guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus
XXOO,
Nancy
