Good Friday Blessings

The world seems to be spinning out of control and yet here we are in the most hope filled time of year

celebrating the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Jesus death and resurrection we are no longer subject to death. We have been given the gift of eternal life. What a glorious gift!

I have thought alot lately about how Jesus must have felt as He was leading up to this moment when He would be hung on tree for people who didn't believe in Him, didn't love Him and who mocked Him. Yet still He went willingly for you and I.

Scripture shares with us the deep grief and travail Jesus had in the Garden at Gethsemane before the crucifixion.

Mark 14:34-36 "And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

Scriptures show us a picture of Jesus in such agony that He wept tears of blood. Yet here we are today and we are in a time of great agony in our world. We grieve and agonize over the suffering our families and the world. The tragedy seems insurmountable each day, overwhelming and breathtaking.

Yet we have hope because of the events of today that happened 1500 years ago.

Through the suffering of Jesus came the most miraculous of miracles His resurrection and defeat of death. Jesus suffered brutally on the road to the cross. But through His suffering came our salvation. Once again Satan's plans are defeated and what was meant for evil God turned for good for the entire of mankind.

Today and throughout this weekend as we reflect and celebrate the miracle of the empty tomb, let us remember that even in the darkest of days, when we are "sorrowful to the point of death" that God turns what Satan means for evil and He uses it for good. We can't see it today, we may not see it tomorrow but we can trust His plans for us are for good and not for evil because He sent His only son Jesus to die on the Cross at Calvary and pay the price for you and me!

God already knows how this turns out and He has already won the victory. This too shall be revealed to us in due time. Take heart Jesus says "I have overcome the world". Glory to God, Hallelujah!

Grateful vs Grumble

James 5:9 - Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged, behold, the Judge is standing at the door. I have shared how most of the devotionals I write come out of what t
